Hello! I’m Allison. If you wandered to this page, I assume you’d like to know a bit about me.
I’m a 31 year old woman who is full of energy and enthusiasm. I am fiercely independent and very happy with where I am in life. I believe in doing what makes me happy, changing things I don’t like, and spending time with people I love. I am very much a worrier and slightly neurotic but am working to not stress about things that are beyond my control. I’m also a perfectionist and a neat freak, but I don’t see anything bad about those qualities.

I am newly married to an amazing man, J. He’s calm and patient and everything I’m not, and he helps me be a better person. Thanks to J, I’m also a stepmom to two wonderful kids, D and M. D lives with us full time and I love love love having a 13 year old stepson! M is 11 and lives in another province with her mother. I miss her like crazy but I'm glad that she's happy! J and I have two rescue dogs who we love dearly. Benson is our two year old beagle jerk, who’s a crazy boy full of energy and spunk, and who has become D's dog since he moved in. Raven is our 8 year old beagle lab cross who is a gentle soul. She helps us keep Benson in check and came to us as such a well-trained, delightful girl.

I’m originally from Newfoundland but currently I call Southern Alberta home. While the prairies are a good place to live for now, I dream of some day getting back to the ocean. Like many Newfoundlanders, I moved west for a job. I teach junior and senior high at an alternate (outreach) school and I absolutely love it. I realize this might mean I’m slightly insane, but I really enjoy the mix of hormones and attitudes and seeing my students try and figure out who they are and who they want to be, while working through the many circumstances that have brought them to our school. I actually look forward to going to work (most days) and can’t imagine doing anything else.
In my spare time I love to be creative. It doesn’t matter what it is, I’m willing to try and make it. I really enjoy crafting and building things. I have minor addictions to house plants, Pinterest and spray paint. The things I create may not always work out as planned but the enjoyment of making something and seeing it grow from start to finish is totally worth it. Plus, who doesn’t love to be able to say “I made that.”?
Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope you enjoy! Feel free to leave comments and let me know you were here!
